York Sport Velodrome is a 250m outdoor tarmac track based at York Sport Village. Costing £1.1m the project is a community and regional facility jointly funded by the University of York and British Cycling. The velodrome is built for speed with each end having 30 degrees banking at its steepest point.
Stephen Hill Architects were engaged to prepare planning application and employers requirements for the Velodrome. It was completed in June 2014 and project picked up a Certificate of Excellence in Civil Engineering at the 2015 Yorkshire and Humberside ICE Awards.
